Emergency Lighting and Exit LightingEmergency lighting systems form a critical part of a safe building evacuation. Many commercial buildings, premises, workplaces and high occupancy residential buildings have a compulsory requirement to provide lighting that operates during a power failure event. Hall Electrical provides all the necessary electrical services for commercial building owners and tenants and for residential apartment building owners, building managers or body corporates. We can take care of the initial design & installation for new buildings or re-fits. We also offer corrective and preventative maintenance.
Emergency Lighting - Design & Installation
Design: Emergency lighting plans are often provided to us; in this instance, we can move directly to sourcing the appropriate parts and develop a project plan. However, on many occasions we arrange an On-Site Evaluation to fully determine the site requirements – particular for commercial property enhancement projects (whether funded by building owners or leaseholders) and residential apartment buildings.
Supply: We work with a select range of electrical suppliers who offer high-quality products backed with product warranties. Emergency lights now come in a range of options. These include designs that are basic but fit cost-effective briefs, through to high end aesthetically focused design concepts. LED emergency lighting can also provide considerable energy saving. High visibility signage for Exit lights is also a common requirement.
Install: With a clear project plan the installation of emergency lighting can be a relatively quick process. Liaising with other contractors is a common requirement. We strive to the deliver the project on time and on budget, every time.
Emergency Lighting - Preventative Maintenance, Testing, Compliance & Certification
Monthly Emergency Lighting Checks: The Compliance Schedule for a specific building should state the requirements, among which you will often find that owners need to ensure a regular emergency lighting check. For the building to pass its annual warranty of fitness the IQP (Independent Qualified Person) must be able to see that any regular checks have been done and recorded in a log book/maintenance history schedule. By outsourcing the regular emergency lighting checks you can ensure compliance with no surprises at the annual IQP check.
Emergency Lighting Compliance / Annual Electrical IQP (Independent Qualified Person): Buildings with emergency lighting systems are generally required to have a Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF). Such, BWOF’s require a Certificate of Compliance by an IQP to certify that the inspection, maintenance and reporting procedures for central battery and single point systems shall be performed in accordance with AS/NZS 2293 and the buildings Compliance Schedule.
